A former Ohio State star and first-round selection is headed to Dallas.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported on Tuesday that former Buckeye and Indianapolis Colts safety Malik Hooker has inked a deal with the Cowboys. He was a first-round selection by the Colts in the 2017 NFL Draft, taken No. 15 overall.

Hooker spent his first four years in the league in Indianapolis. He was credited with 124 tackles, 11 pass break-ups and 7 interceptions with the Colts.

But Hooker was unable to stay healthy during his time with the organization, playing in just 35 of 64 games over that four-year span. He sustained a torn Achilles in the second game of the 2020 season, essentially ending his time with the Colts.

Now, Hooker will have the opportunity to start over with a new organization. At times in his career, he’s looked like a first-round pick. But health has hindered his growth and success on the field.
