Apple has been in the NFL since 2016. After ending his championship Ohio State career with All-B1G recognition in 2015, he was selected No. 10 overall by the New York Giants. Over the last few years, Apple has been on the move a few times.
The Giants traded Apple to the New Orleans Saints during the 2018 season. Ahead of the 2020 season, he signed with the Carolina Panthers but dealt with injuries before his midseason release. Apple then landed with the Cincinnati Bengals.
Apple spent 2 seasons with Bengals. He then joined the Miami Dolphins for the 2023 season and was a midseason addition for the Los Angeles Chargers, playing in 4 games.
In his NFL career, Apple has played in 102 regular-season games, making 82 starts. He has recorded 383 total tackles, 61 passes defended and 6 interceptions.
Over the last 2 seasons, Apple has only played in 14 games, making 4 starts (all with the Dolphins).
