Former punter Jonathan Thoma is in the Ohio State record books.
Awesome, right?
Not really. Back during his playing days for the Buckeyes, he had a 13-yard punt. That’s bad.
Actually, it’s so bad that it was a record for the shortest punt in Ohio State history. However, on Saturday against the Michigan State Spartans, Thoma’s record no longer stands.
In the first quarter, Michigan State’s defense stood tall — as it does often — and forced an Ohio State punt. What then took place, however, was a terrible punt.
Buckeyes punter Drue Chrisman punted the ball 4 yards. Yep, 4.
Here’s Thoma on Twitter, responding to his glorious record being broken:
Breaking my Twitter retirement for a moment to announce I have been erased from the Ohio State football record books. Shortest punt in Ohio State history no more!

Glad they put Drue back in for the next kick. Tress didn’t let me punt again for 2 years.

Thoma, on his Twitter account, regards himself as a former placeholder for the Buckeyes. He has it set that, “They eventually let me punt as well.”
Following Chrisman’s 4-yard punt on Saturday, Chrisman booted one 47 yards.
All is well.
