A former Ohio State RB was not included in the opening-day roster plans of the Philadelphia Eagles. The news was reported by Pro Football Talk’s Josh Alper.
The Eagles decided to cut running back Trey Sermon, safety K’Von Wallace, and punter Arryn Siposs. Sermon suffered an undisclosed injury during the preseason that may have hurt his chances of making the roster.
The former Buckeye was originally drafted by the San Francisco 49ers in the 2021 NFL Draft. After one season out west, the Eagles claimed Sermon off waivers in 2022.
Sermon played in two games for Philadelphia last season. Sermon received more playing time in San Francisco due to injuries, appearing in nine games in 2021.
Tuesday was the NFL’s deadline for all teams to cut their roster numbers to 53 players. It’s unfortunate that Sermon was one of those cuts.
After playing for multiple teams so far, there’s a good chance that Sermon will land elsewhere. The former Ohio State RB is no longer an Eagle.
