He’s the sixth Washington player to win Defensive Player of the Month in franchise history, according to the release — the first to do it since 2012. Young is also the first rookie in franchise history to win a Player of the Month award.
In his last five games, Young recorded 17 total tackles, three tackles for loss, three sacks, two forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries, three passes defensed and a touchdown.
Washington picked Young No. 2 overall in the 2020 NFL draft. He’s likely to win Defensive Rookie of the Year. He finished his season with 7.5 sacks, 10 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, three fumble recoveries and a touchdown.
Young’s season is not over just yet. Washington went 7-9 this year and qualified for the playoffs by winning the NFC East.
Washington will face Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Saturday in the wildcard round.
