Former Ohio State star Garrett Wilson has thrived with the New York Jets, even while the franchise itself has seen some turbulent seasons. Now, one of the best wide receivers in Ohio State football history is getting rewarded with a new deal.

On Monday, NFL insider Ian Rapoport reported that the Jets were signing Wilson to a 4-year contract worth a max of $130 million. The deal is supposed to include $90 million guaranteed, the 4th-highest guarantee for a receiver in NFL history.

Wilson has since confirmed the signing, posting on Tuesday morning that “Jets green has been running through me since the day they drafted me.” He also expressed mutual faith between himself and the franchise, despite the rough nature of the early portion of his NFL career.

Wilson joined the Jets as one of Ohio State’s all-time first-round draft picks in 2022, getting selected 10th overall. Since joining the franchise, he has played with 6 starting quarterbacks, but that has not taken a toll on Wilson’s production.

He captured the AP Offensive Rookie of the Year honor in 2022 after 1,103 yards receiving and 4 touchdowns. He has since posted at least 1,000 yards every season, with career totals of 3,249 yards and 14 touchdowns.

While starring for Ryan Day in Columbus, Wilson posted 2,213 receiving yards and 23 touchdowns, and he still ranks in the top 11 on Ohio State’s all-time receiving lists in both categories. Now, he’s getting rewarded with a big NFL contract.
