Former Ohio State wide receiver Johnnie Dixon has received another opportunity with an NFL franchise.
Michael Gehlken of Dallas Morning News reported on Monday that the Dallas Cowboys have signed Dixon. He’ll compete for an opportunity to be on the roster out of camp, though he could also be in a practice squad role.
Dixon recently tried out for a spot with the Cleveland Browns.

Dixon was not selected in the 2019 NFL Draft after a five-year career at Ohio State. In those five seasons, the receiver overcame knee injuries to conclude his career with 1,146 receiving yards and 16 touchdown catches.
Most recently, Dixon was a member of the Arizona Cardinals’ practice squad in 2019 but battled an abdominal injury in 2020 that kept him sidelined. He was waived by the team in 2020.
Initially signed by the Houston Texans out of college, Dixon caught 9 passes for 77 yards in four preseasons games. He has not yet played in any regular season games in the NFL.
