Former OSU DB Gareon Conley posts positive update after scary injury on MNF

Gareon Conley was involved in a scary incident during Monday Night Football, but it looks like the former Ohio State defender is going to be alright.

Conley played for the Buckeyes from 2014-16, finishing his career with 91 total tackles and six interceptions. He would be taken in the first round of the 2017 NFL Draft by the Oakland Raiders. Conley emerged in 2018 as a key member of Oakland’s defense, recording three interceptions and 15 passes defended.

Unfortunately, Conley was banged up in the 2019 season opener on Monday Night Football. He was caught up in a bit of friendly fire and took an awkward hit to the head from a teammate at the end of one play.

Following the play, Conley was removed from the field on a stretcher. He did give a thumbs up to the crowd as he was leaving.

On Tuesday evening, Conley shared a personal update on his condition to his Twitter page. He thanked everyone for their thoughts and prayers and said he did injure his neck, but the injury is nothing severe. Thankfully, the stretcher and everything that followed was just cautious protocol.

He says he is “good to go:”

Thank you to everybody who had me in their thoughts and prayers.. I hurt my neck nothing severe and it was just protocol to get me on a stretcher and get imaging to make sure everything was ok make sure it didn’t go down my spine or anything.. I’m good to go God Bless you all 🙏🏾
