Former Purdue star, NFL WR Rondale Moore dies at 25

Awful news to pass along this Saturday evening. Former Purdue wide receiver Rondale Moore has died at the age of 25.
Multiple outlets are reporting Moore’s passing. Ahmad Hicks of FOX 9 Minneapolis is reporting that New Albany, Indiana police chief Todd Bailey shared that Moore was found deceased of what is suspected to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound. WLKY reports that the Floyd County (Indiana) Coroner confirmed Moore died Saturday.

Jeff Brohm, who coached Moore at Purdue, released a statement via social media.
“Rondale Moore was a complete joy to coach,” Brohm wrote. The ultimate competitor that would never back down to any challenge. Rondale has a work ethic that was unmatched by anyone. A great teammate that would come through in any situation. we all loved Rondale and we loved his smile and competitive edge that always wanted to please everyone he came in contact with. We offer all of our thoughts and prayers to Rondale and his family and we love him very much!!!”

Moore had a decorated Purdue career from 2018-20. As a freshman, he was named Big Ten Freshman of the Year, B1G Receiver of the Year and a consensus All-American. Moore also won the Paul Hornung Award in his debut season.
In 2019 and ’20, his final 2 seaons at Purdue, Moore would play in just 7 games. He then declared for the NFL Draft and was selcted No. 49 overall by the Arizona Cardinals in 2021. In 2024, Moore was traded to the Atlanta Falcons. He signed with the Minnesota Vikings in 2025, but spent the season injured reserve following an injury in a preseason game.
In his NFL career, Moore logged 135 catches for 1,201 yards and 3 touchdowns.
