Danny Anthrop is still making plays. Only this time, his plays are saving lives.

Anthrop is a former wide receiver that played four seasons for the Boilermakers. From 2012-15, Anthrop recorded 113 receptions for 1,384 yards and nine touchdowns. He also served as a punt and kick returner for Purdue.

After his time in college, Anthrop spent a brief stint with the Indianapolis Colts before moving on to other endeavors. That led to Anthrop getting sworn in as a patrol officer with the Lafayette Police Department in 2017.

On Thursday, Andrew Pogar with WLFI News 18 reported that Anthrop was recently recognized with the department’s “Life Saving Award.”

It was not specified what led to the recognition, but it is good to see a former Boilermaker recognized in the line of duty.
