Former Minnesota Golden Gopher defensive tackle recruit Jovanny “Jojo” Garcia was found dead at his home in St. Paul, Minn. on Monday. He was 19 years old.

The Minnesota Star Tribune reported that Garcia committed suicide:

“Sadly, it appears” that Garcia committed suicide, police spokesman Steve Linders said in an e-mail to the Star Tribune.

Garcia originally committed to the Golden Gophers, but when former head coach Jerry Kill left, he decommitted from the program, announcing his decision last year on Oct. 28.

In February, Garcia committed to Iowa Western Community College in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
