This is an awesome story.
Melvin Gordon received recognition this week for his community service. Josh Alper with Pro Football Talk shared that Gordon was named this week’s Community MVP by the NFLPA.
According to Alper, Gordon was recognized for his involvement with the Los Angeles Meal Pack on Sept. 11. The Meal Pack gathered and packed more than 250,000 meals for children, elderly, and veterans.
Alper shared a statement from Gordon after being recognized with the award:
“By being involved in charitable efforts like serving meals to veterans on 9/11 Day, I’m reminded how much volunteering can not only make a difference to people in need, but also how important it is to show my fans — especially kids who look up to me as role model — that I care,” Gordon said in a statement. “I want to thank the NFL Players Association for this award.”
Gordon is in his fourth NFL season after spending four years with the Badgers. He finished his Wisconsin career with 4,915 yards rushing and 49 total TDs.
Gordon has also put up back-to-back seasons of at least 1,400 yards from scrimmage in the NFL. It is great to see the former Wisconsin star being productive while also helping out in the community.
