Four B1G linebackers have made the cut as semifinalists for the Butkus Award.

Monday morning, the list of candidates was narrowed down to 15 names, which included four players from the B1G. The Butkus Award honors the athletic achievement and service to the community while honoring the nation’s best high school, college, and professional linebackers, according to its official website.

The four B1G linebackers listed as semifinalists were:

  • Jerome Baker, Ohio State
  • Josey Jewell, Iowa
  • Devin Bush, Michigan
  • T.J. Edwards, Wisconsin

Finalists will be named on Nov. 20 and a winner will be announced following the end of the regular season on Dec. 5.

An independent Butkus Award Selection Committee comprised of 51 experts, including professional, college and high school scouts, and prominent sports journalists, conduct the selection process.

It’s been quite some time since anyone from the B1G has brought home the Butkus Award. The last linebacker from the conference to win the award was Ohio State’s James Laurinaitis in 2007.
