Four B1G programs make Top 5 for 4-star, Top 300 defensive end

The odds of four-star defensive end Najee Story playing college football in the B1G are pretty good. One of the top 20 strong-side ends in the 2021 class included four teams from the conference in his top five on Monday.

Ohio State, Penn State, Minnesota and Northwestern all made the cut for Story, who is a native of Solon, Ohio. The only non-B1G program to receive consideration was Tennessee out of the SEC. Story narrowed his list down to five after receiving 18 offers on the recruiting trail.

Four B1G programs offered Story, but didn’t make the cut in the top five, including Maryland, Michigan, Michigan State and Nebraska.

Story is a 6-foot-4, 235-pound defensive end who is listed as one of the top 300 players in the 2021 recruiting class. Per 247Sports, he ranks as the No. 9 player from Ohio and is the No. 18 strong-side defensive end in the class.

Ohio State’s recruiting class in the 2021 cycle is already exponentially better than anyone else’s in the nation, so a commitment from Story would widen the gap even further. Penn, who has typically landed one of the top three recruiting classes in the B1G over the last few years, would receive a significant boost with his pledge.

Both Minnesota and Northwestern would also benefit greatly from adding a talent like Story to the class.
