This is a big one for Tom Allen and the Hoosiers.

Monday, running back Ronnie Walker gave a verbal commitment to Indiana, becoming the first four-star prospect of IU’s 2018 class. The Hopewell, Virginia native chose the Hoosiers over Michigan State, Northwestern and Rutgers as well as in-state schools Virginia and Virginia Tech.

Walker is the highest-ranked Indiana recruit since Domonique Booth in 2014. He’s listed as the No. 13 running back of 2018 and the No. 5 player from Virginia.

He just missed the top 300, according to 247Sports, coming in at 319th.

The 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back becomes the 15th prospect to join the 2018 recruiting class.
