Four-star recruit, recent ACC signee passes away after reportedly being struck by a train

Tragedy struck Monday with the news that one young recruit and recent ACC signee has passed away.
According to Adam Lichtenstein with the South Florida Sun-Sentinel, Bryce Gowdy of Deerfield Beach, Florida passed away on Monday. Early reports indicate Gowdy was struck by a freight train early Monday morning. He was rushed to the hospital where he passed away:
Gowdy was struck by a freight train around 4 a.m. on Monday in the area of Southeast Fourth Avenue and Southeast 10th Street in Deerfield Beach, according to a preliminary incident report from the Broward Sheriff’s Office.
According to Lichtenstein, an investigation into the incident is still ongoing.
Gowdy was listed at 6-foot-3 and a was a four-star wide receiver for the 2020 class. According to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings, he was the No. 54 WR nationally. Gowdy had signed with Georgia Tech during the Early Signing Period.
On Monday, Gowdy’s high school and Georgia Tech head coach Geoff Collins responded to Gowdy’s passing:
