It’s only been one week and we’re already going to see a fairly significant shakeup in the Associated Press rankings. But before the AP polls are released, Fox Sports’ Steward Mandel ranked his top 10 teams after the first week of the season.
Mandel placed two B1G teams, Michigan and Ohio State, on his list. He ranked the Wolverines No. 6 and has the Buckeyes sitting at No. 5
He provided the following explanation for Michigan:
I can’t say I learned much from a scrimmage against Hawaii, but at least we know now that Wilton Speight is the quarterback and freshman RB Chris Evans could be a new playmaker.
Mandel said this about Ohio State:
While other highly ranked teams struggled against MAC/Sun Belt foes, the Buckeyes hung 77 points on Bowling Green. RBs Mike Weber and Curtis Samuel could form a potent tandem.
Ohio State beat Bowling Green 77-10 on Saturday while Michigan downed Hawai’i 63-3.
The list only includes two SEC teams after Week 1 games. Alabama sits atop the list after pummeling USC and Texas A&M squeaked in at No. 10 after beating UCLA.
