Everyone has an opinion, and when it comes to the College Football Playoff rankings there are plenty of them to go around.
Fox Sports analyst Joel Klatt hasn’t been quiet about his discontent with the current situation. After the CFP committee announced their initial rankings last week, he was more than outspoken about his discontent.
Now that we have another round of rankings this week, Klatt has offered a solution.
Last idea was a miss!! Here is another
– Create a CFB Commissioner or Board of Directors
– That entity would control both the Playoff and all Non-Conference games
– The top finishers from prior year would have to play a more difficult non-conference schedule— Joel Klatt (@joelklatt) November 9, 2021
The controversy is fueled by the inconsistency of who ranks where, and why. This week’s rankings didn’t change much, despite many of the top contending teams having a difficult Saturday.
Undefeated Georgia made the top spot an easy choice, but with No. 2 Alabama surviving a scare against LSU at home, and Michigan State losing to Purdue the rankings get cloudy. The Spartans dropped to No. 7, and their position below No. 5 Michigan despite their victory over the Wolverines on Oct. 30, have plenty of analysts scratching their heads.
Klatt isn’t alone in offering a solution, and there are sure to be plenty more tossed around.
But if you’re waiting for the CFP Committee to change their minds, don’t hold your breath.
