Fran McCaffery’s team was embarrassed on Thursday by Nebraska 66-50. One thing that McCaffery thinks Iowa needs to get better at in the long run is managing frustrations when shots don’t go your way.
At one point during the first half of the game, the Huskers went on a 19-0 scoring run. McCaffery believes that in those moments it’s important to keep your cool via Hawk Central’s Travis Hines.
“I think we’ve got to do a better job of managing those situations where everybody’s frustrated because there’s four, five, six, seven possessions in a row and you feel like it’s not that bad but we can’t get anything to drop. Then they hit a couple threes and you look up and you’re down 12, 13, 15.”
The loss to Nebraska drops Iowa to 8-5 on the year. This comes after the Hawkeyes were upset in Iowa City by Eastern Illinois on Dec. 21.
Iowa faces Penn State next on Jan. 1.
