Fran McCaffery addressed Kris Murray’s status for Sunday following a mid-week absence during Iowa’s win over Iowa State.

After struggling in the loss to Duke, Murray was ruled out for the Iowa State game due to a lower leg injury. Murray was also spotted wearing a boot on one foot while on the bench.

On Saturday, the head coach of the Hawkeyes was asked about Murray’s status. Though McCaffery did not get into additional details about the situation, he confirmed Murray will be out for Sunday’s B1G opener against Wisconsin.

The Hawkeyes were able to thrash rival Iowa State 75-56 at home without Murray, but Iowa will not want to miss its star for an extended period of time. Murray remains the team leader with 19.4 points per game while shooting 50% from the field.

We’ll see when Murray can re-enter the lineup down the road. Sunday’s game against Wisconsin will start at 6:30 pm ET on BTN.
