Nebraska head coach Fred Hoiberg has wasted no time assembling his new staff.
Matt Abdelmassih and Charlie Henry have been hired to be assistants under Hoiberg in Lincoln, according to the Omaha World-Herald. Both coaches were also on Hoiberg’s staff at Iowa State. The news came on Monday.
Abdelmassih will be an assistant coach at Nebraska and Henry will either be an assistant coach or will be involved with the operations. It was unclear which role he will fill at this time.
The two assistants were members of an Iowa State staff that compiled a 115-56 record in five seasons and made four NCAA Tournament appearances. The Cyclones also won back-to-back Big XII Tournament titles in 2014 and 2015.
Nebraska is coming off a 19-17 season with a second-straight appearance in the NIT. The Huskers have not played in the NCAA Tournament since 2014.
Hoiberg agreed to a seven-year contract worth $25 million to become the next head coach in Lincoln.
