Fred Hoiberg is trying to combat injuries in a smart way early on in the season for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.

Following the Cornhuskers’ 75-61 victory over Omaha on Thursday night, Hoiberg provided insight into forward Juwan Gary’s injury that occurred during the game.

Gary ended up jamming his shoulder and per Hoiberg’s request was taken out of the game to not risk getting more injured, as Hoiberg mentioned in his presser after the game.

The Huskers were in total control of the game and Hoiberg felt that taking Gary out would be more beneficial than having him play with a hurt shoulder.

Gary, despite the injury scare during Thursday night’s win, played a total of 17 minutes and finished with a steal and a rebound.

We’ll see if Gary will be back in the lineup for the Huskers in their next game. The Huskers will travel to St. Johns for tip-off at 6:30 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 17.

Fans can tune into the game on FS1.
