Gabe Kalscheur, former Minnesota star, discusses distaste for Wisconsin following upset win

Gabe Kalscheur knows a thing or two about facing Wisconsin. On Sunday, he had one more chance to face the Badgers, and he made the most of it.
A native of Minnesota, Kalscheur began his career with 3 seasons for the Golden Gophers. He averaged 10.4 points while starting 88 games for Minnesota and was a part of 2 wins against the Badgers.
This time around, Kalscheur was playing for even bigger stakes as a member of Iowa State. He responded with 22 points, tied for second-highest by Kalscheur in a Cyclone uniform. That performance included a 10-for-19 shooting night, 4 rebounds, an assist and 2 steals.
After the game, Kalscheur was asked about his feelings for Wisconsin. As a native Minnesotan, it’s not hard to understand his thoughts.
He admitted to never liking Wisconsin, saying “it fueled my fire.”
#IowaState‘s Gabe Kalscheur (22 points): “I’ve never liked Wisconsin, to be honest. I have family from there, but I’m a Minnesota-raised man. … It fueled my fire for sure.”

After the dramatic upset, Kalscheur definitely gets the last laugh this season.
