Year in and year out, Ohio State proves it can always contend for a national championship.
That feat, Gary Danielson explains, make the Buckeyes different from other teams in the Big Ten.
The legendary voice of college football joined College Sports on SiriusXM Wednesday and detailed why Ohio State is so special.
Danielson explains that the feeling at Ohio State rivals that of the feeling in the southeast when it comes to football.
“It feels like the importance of football in the southeast,” Danielson said. “It’s basically a way of life in the south, college football. Now it’s tough for Ohio State fans to figure out that difference, because the one team in the Big 10 that’s exactly like SEC football is Ohio State. You know the expectations of Ohio State football, it’s like that every year.”
He believes that Ohio State is different from other programs in this way. There isn’t the same kind of pressure at other Big Ten programs.
“The world doesn’t change at Michigan or Penn State if they don’t win the national championship or at least compete,” Danielson said. “At Ohio State, it does. You either compete for a national championship, or the talk shows 365 days a year are wondering what’s wrong with the program.”
