Gary Patterson tweeted a message of good luck to his previous school, TCU, for the Big 12 Championship on Saturday.
Patterson dedicated the tweet to “the Frog family, Big12, State of Texas and being left out in 2014.” Back in 2014, Patterson was the head coach of the Horned Frogs and led the team to an 11-1 record in the regular season. Despite the impressive record, TCU was left out of the College Football Playoff in favor of Ohio State.

Patterson led the Horned Frogs to an overall record of 181–79 as a head coach, a position that he held from 2000 to 2021. In 2014, TCU not only had an 11-1 record but won its first Big 12 title as a school under Patterson. After starting the season 3-5, Patterson was let go in 2021 and moved to Texas as a special assistant.
TCU will try to avenge being left out of the 2014 CFP on Saturday as the Frogs take on Kansas State for the Big 12 title.
