Former Iowa star Georgia Kittle is sticking with the San Francisco 49ers as the franchise locks up the superstar tight end and major offensive weapon with a new long-term deal.
On Tuesday, the deal was reported through an interesting channel with the “Bussin’ with the Boys” podcast breaking the news. Former Nebraska star Will Compton and former Michigan offensive lineman Taylor Lewan are the co-hosts of the podcast.
According to BWTB, the 4-year deal contains a max value of $76.4 million with a $40-million guarantee to Kittle. $35 million is due at signing with an average value of $19.1 million. During the 2024 season, Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce was the highest-paid TE, just over $19.5 million as the only player at the position north of $19 million.
Since entering the league, Kittle has been one of the most productive and versatile tight ends in the entire NFL. Kittle, a vicious blocker in the run game, is also the top weapon in San Francisco’s passing game.
This past season, the Hawkeye led the 49ers with 78 catches, 1,106 yards and 8 receiving touchdowns. It was Kittle’s 2nd straight season with 1,000+ yards receiving and the 4th of his NFL career.
Now, Kittle will look to continue anchoring San Francisco’s offense as the franchise tries to work toward a new contract for starting quarterback Brock Purdy.
