Fortunately for Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh, he didn’t need star running back Blake Corum during their 59-14 thrashing of Maryland on Saturday. Corum has been out since having just 1 carry against Indiana two weeks back and missed the Penn State game.

Reports had Corum available for the game against Maryland, but he never saw action.

But where Corum has been seen, is giving back to the community. With the NCAA allowing student athletes to profit from their Name, Image and Likeness, many players are taking advantage of their position to give back. Corum used his NIL funds to purchase turkeys he helped to distribute on Sunday in two Ypsilanti communities. The sophomore is calling the effort, “Giving Back 2 Give Thanks.”

There has been plenty of criticism of the NCAA’s move to allow athletes to benefit from their positions on the field. Perhaps it’s time to start focusing on the players that are taking a cue from their professional counterparts and making a difference.

Nice move Blake.
