Golden State selects Michigan’s Jordan Poole with late first-round pick

Former Michigan star Jordan Poole is joining one of the best teams in the NBA.
On Thursday night, Poole heard his name called late in the first round of the 2019 NBA Draft, being selected by the Golden State Warriors. He was selected No. 28 overall.
“Being able to work so hard for this particular moment this opportunity, I have so much support through my family, coaches to be able to make this decision,” Poole said when asked why he was confident to enter the NBA Draft.
Poole played two seasons at Michigan, making a huge leap as a sophomore. Last season, he averaged 12.8 points, 2.8 rebounds and 2.2 assists per game. He was particularly efficient from 3-point range this past season, knocking down nearly 37 percent of his shots from behind the arc.
Poole averaged 9.4 points per game for his career with the Wolverines.
The former Michigan star is excited to be joining Golden State, one of the top organizations in the NBA right now.
“I’m definitely a little young, but I’ll splash something for sure,” Poole said after being drafted.
Poole was the second B1G player selected in the 2019 NBA Draft. Indiana’s Romeo Langford was selected No. 14 overall by the Boston Celtics.
