The Goodyear blimp is headed to the College Football Hall of Fame.

An announcement  was made by the National Football Foundation and College Hall of Fame on Monday. The blimp will be an honorary member.

It’s the first time a non-player or coach has been inducted.

“College players and fans know that when the Goodyear Blimps shows up, it’s a big game,” said NFF chairman Archie Manning. “Its presence is intrinsically known and tied to the traditions that make college football so great. As the eye in the sky to college football’s greatest coaches, players and moments, it’s only fitting that the Goodyear Blimp joins the College Football Hall of Fame in a year when the game celebrates its 150th anniversary.”

There will be an exhibit dedicated to the blimp at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta. Artifacts, video footage and photos will be featured in the exhibit.

The Goodyear blimp has provided aerial coverage of over 2,000 football games since 1955.
