Graham Mertz might have some extra pressure this season. Backup quarterback Chase Wolf is reportedly out for the season with a torn meniscus.
Wolf, a senior out of Cincinnati, appeared in four games for the Badgers in 2021. The 6-foot-1 QB threw for 124 yards and 1 touchdown over four games.
Wolf passed for a career-high 52 yards against Michigan. Overall, he has appeared in 10 career games for Wisconsin.
This is a blow for the Badgers behind starting quarterback Graham Mertz. Mertz completed 169 passes for 1,958 yards and 10 touchdowns under center for Wisconsin last season. Wolf’s injury leaves the Badgers thin behind him.
#badgers QB Graham Mertz says he feels horrible for Chase Wolf. Says he can’t worry about getting hurt in a game. Still has to play his game. Sounds as if Wolf is having surgery today.

While Wisconsin is a favorite to win the B1G West, any injury now to Mertz could be a disaster for the Badgers. Redshirt freshman quarterback Deacon Hill is also listed on the depth chart.
Hill was a 3-star prospect via the class of 2021 out of Santa Barbara, California. He threw for over 3,100 yards during his high school career.
The Badgers host FCS Illinois State on Sept. 3 for the season opener.
