Purdue University president Mitch Daniels had a fashionable arrival to the school’s commencement ceremony on Saturday afternoon.

On Saturday, Purdue hosted its graduation ceremony at Ross-Ade Stadium, the school’s football stadium. Daniels had an idea for a great way to arrive at the event — in both comfort and in style.

Daniels was driven in via a “couch cart,” which was built by Purdue students last month. Simply put, the couch cart is a motorized loveseat. And the president of the university was all about making a grand entrance on this unique transportation method.

The couch cart was created by Ethan Cox and Nathan Peercy, according to a story run by WLFI in Lafayette/West Lafayette. It has a speed of 12 miles per hour.

“It is a couch that we had lying around, a cart from Menards, and a bunch of go-kart parts we bought online,” Cox told WLFI in April. “It’s nothing serious, it wasn’t for a class project or anything, we just thought it would be a fun time.”
