The clouded running back picture in Ann Arbor got a little clearer.

According to 247sports.com, running back Derrick Green will transfer from Michigan and try to play elsewhere in 2016 as a graduate transfer.

Green came into Michigan as a five-star recruit in Brady Hoke’s loaded 2013 class. But the Richmond, Virginia native never lived up to his highly touted status as a prospect.

He struggled just to get snaps in B1G play, and he only registered a carry in two of the final seven games of the 2015 season. Green finished his three-year career with 212 carries for 898 yards and seven touchdowns.

His departure means there will be one less running back vying for carries in Michigan’s loaded backfield.

Leading rusher De’Veon Smith will return, as will former five-star recruit Ty Isaac, Drake Johnson and Karan Higdon. On top of that, the Wolverines will bring in Kareem Walker, who is the top running back recruit in the 2016 class.

The team has yet to officially confirm the report.
