Greg Gard and Wisconsin lost a tough overtime game to Kansas on Thanksgiving Day. The Badgers lost by a single point to the Jayhawks.
Wisconsin suffered its first defeat of the year in a 69-68 loss to Kansas in the Battle 4 Atlantis. Tyler Wahl led the team in scoring with 23 points. Wahl also had 10 rebounds and 2 assists.
Gard’s team showed him a lot on Thursday and he knows that this loss will be a great motivator down the stretch.
“We’re not into moral victories, but this group showed me a lot today,” said Gard. “The resolve, the grit, and willingness to keep battling back. We just need to put larger chunks of time together playing at a high level. This will help us as much as it stings right now.”

While this loss will definitely hurt, it’s worth noting how Kansas coach Bill Self admitted that Wisconsin outplayed them for most of the game. There are plenty of positives to take from the game.
“They had outplayed us, totally,” said Self. “We were not the best team today.”
