Greg McElroy blasts Ohio State for ‘weather-dependent’ offense following struggles vs. Northwestern

Greg McElroy weighed in on the Ohio State-Northwestern game on “Always College Football.”
On Monday morning McElroy did not hold back when discussing more of Ohio State’s offensive struggles during Saturday’s victory over Northwestern, 21-7.
The Buckeyes struggled to move the ball offensively, dealing with a bout of inclement weather including a mix of heavy rain and 50-mile-per-hour winds while in Evanston.
McElroy commented on Ohio State’s unfortunate weather issues and how its offensive strategy seemed to be more weather-dependent, heightening the Buckeyes’ struggles on the field.
Why is it that Ohio State would go in the direction of running an offense that is weather-dependent? Explain to me that because I look at this offense and if you take away their passing attack, they become very human very quickly.
Yes, I know there (were) 50 MPH wind gusts, (and) I know it was awful weather conditions. You’re Ohio State, how come you can’t run the football? Someone’s gonna have to explain that to me. I look at their offensive line, they all look like Greek gods… yet they get pushed around.
Quarterback C.J. Stroud completed 10-of-26 passes for just 76 yards, failing to throw a touchdown for the first time in his career. Stroud had a career-high rushing day of 79 yards during Saturday’s win over the Wildcats.

Despite the terrible weather conditions, the Buckeyes were able to get a win, in the not-so-prettiest circumstances.
As McElroy addressed, the Buckeyes will need to change the strategy to reflect weather conditions moving forward and especially against Michigan in a few weeks.
