Greg McElroy explained what the difference maker will be for Wisconsin’s road matchup with Washington State. McElroy believes the defense will be the deciding factor.

McElroy stated that he’ll be leaning towards the Badgers, but it’ll be close. The defense will get the job done, according to McElroy.

“I lean Wisconsin, but I lean them close,” McElroy said. “I think they’re going to have their ears pinned back and they’re going to be coming off really, really hard. Wisconsin defensively will ultimately be the difference in this game.”

Wisconsin played Buffalo in the season opener. The Badgers ended up winning 38-17 in Tanner Mordecai’s debut. The Cougars beat Colorado State 50-24 in Week 1.

The Wisconsin defense went into halftime with a 28-10 lead against the Bulls. If Luke Fickell’s defense can be just as dominant in Pullman, things could go well for his team.

Kickoff from Martin Stadium will be at 7:30 p.m. ET on ABC.
