Greg McElroy has been tackling a number of topics on his Always College Football podcast. On his most recent episode, McElroy addressed which programs have the right to call themselves QB, RB and WR “U” during the College Football Playoff era.

When it comes to “WR U,” McElroy sees a clear-cut case for Ohio State’s run at the position. The 10 Buckeye receivers selected in the NFL Draft and the current crop of talent on the roster that Brian Hartline has helped assemble as evidence for the nod.

“Moving onto wide receiver, the prima donna position. It’s okay, we love them nonetheless. Ohio State leads the pack right now, 10 WRs drafted since 2014. They’ve had 2 first-rounders, Jaxon Smith-Njigba likely to join them this year, and what they have on the roster,” said McElroy. “You’re probably going to have 2 more (first-rounders) next year.

“So you look at 5 first-round receivers potentially in a three-year span, assuming Marvin Harrison Jr. and Emeka Egbuka go in the first round next year. You’re looking at a pretty nice contingent of quality players.”

LSU, Alabama, USC and Ole Miss were also included in McElroy’s debate, but he feels confident in his choice.

Here’s his full episode with the “WR U” talk beginning around the 15-minute mark:
