Jim Harbaugh offered a scholarship to an eighth-grade Hawaiian quarterback

There are two things that we already know about Jim Harbaugh.
One is that if he thinks something is a good idea, he does it. His spring break/satellite camp/social media ways taught us that.
The other is that he considers himself a quarterback whisperer. His likening of his quarterback understanding to birdwatching taught us that.
So it shouldn’t come as a surprise that Harbaugh offered a scholarship to an eighth-grade quarterback from Hawaii, right?

The 2020 prospect is a dual-threat quarterback who stands at 6-1, 180 pounds. He’ll attend Kahuku High this fall.
Harbaugh is hardly the first person to offer an eighth-grader a scholarship. Last year, Harbaugh actually offered 2019 linebacker Owen Pappoe, but Michigan was the fifth school to do so.
Michigan’s quarterback situation appears to be in good hands in the future. Five-star pro-style quarterback Dylan McCaffrey already gave his verbal pledge for the 2017 class. The Wolverines don’t have any 2018 or 2019 quarterbacks committed yet.
Maiava’s offer was reportedly made without Michigan passing coordinator Jedd Fisch present. Harbaugh obviously wasn’t shy to pull the trigger on a prospect he feels will covet major offers after he starts high school.
As usual, Harbaugh wants to be ahead of the curve.
