Harlon Barnett comments on removal of Katin Houser, QB status moving forward

Harlon Barnett’s Michigan State squad started semi-well against Minnesota but faltered down the stretch as drive after drive stalled, leading to a 27-12 loss to the Golden Gophers in Week 9.
Starting QB Katin Houser was pulled in favor of Sam Leavitt in the 2nd half. Both quarterbacks struggled, but at least Leavitt was able to find the end zone at the start of the 4th quarter.
Following the game, Barnett was asked about the future at the QB position for Michigan State.
For one, he told reporters that it is too early to make a call on a starter for next week:
Barnett says it’s too early to make a call on whether Houser or Leavitt will start next week vs. Nebraska.

But Barnett was not completely negative regarding Houser, either. Here’s what he had to say concerning his Week 9 starter.
He told reporters the message he gave Houser postgame:
Barnett on Houser: “He’s a competitor, he loves to play the game. We’re not playing as well as we want to play, and he wants to play well. And he knows the QB gets a lot of heat for things that happens.”

Michigan State will be back in action next week against Nebraska.
