Haskell Garrett came up with a pass defended and an interception on the same play for Ohio State, an accomplishment made more impressive by the fact that he’s an interior defensive lineman.

The ball was on Michigan State’s 2-yard line with 5:15 left before halftime in what was admittedly a very long first half for Michigan State. On 3rd and 9, the senior defensive lineman batted up a pass by Spartans quarterback Rocky Lombardi.

He then followed the ball and jumped up, securing the touchdown. It was great awareness by Garrett as the touchdown put Ohio State up 28-0.

Michigan State was having a rough day even before that, with just 30 yards of total offense from their first four possessions, all of which ended in a punt.

For Garrett, it was his first pass broken up of the season and first interception of his collegiate career.
