Heather Dinich said she believes the College Football Playoff committee will have an argument this week between Georgia and Ohio State. The Buckeyes opened the rankings on Tuesday at No. 1, while Georgia was No. 2.

The ESPN reporter was on “SportsCenter” Sunday morning, and explained how it would unfold.

“It’s a significant discussion for the selection committee when they meet this week,” Dinich said. “Because they both won in similar fashions. Ohio State still arguably has the better resume. But when you look at that Notre Dame win, it doesn’t look so great anymore because Notre Dame just lost to a 4-loss Clemson team. Penn State could be No. 10, though.”

On the flip side, here’s Georgia’s situation, she said.

“When you look at the Mizzou win for Georgia, where do they fall, because that’s what is tricky, right, the catch-22,” Dinich said. “You beat the No. 12 team, but because they lost, how far do they fall, what does it really mean for them. If Georgia moves to the top spot, it will be because they just added to the resume and the committee simply believes they are a better team right now.”

Dinich pointed out Ohio State’s first-half struggles against Rutgers, including 0-for-5 on 3rd down and trailing.

“How you win matters, just ask Washington, the No. 5 last week because they didn’t look great against ASU,” Dinich said. “How you win matters, but at the same time, I’m going to give Georgia just a slight edge this week because they did add to their resume, and because Ohio State struggled against a Rutgers team that their own coach, Greg Schiano, called a work in progress.”
