With Oklahoma State’s late win over Oklahoma, the key matchups for Championship Weekend in college football are officially set!
A number of matchups were already determined prior to Saturday but some key showdowns set the slate for conference championships around the country. That was seen in the B1G with Michigan’s win over Ohio State and Wisconsin’s loss to Minnesota setting the table for Indianapolis.
Oklahoma State’s win also sets the Big 12 Championship with the Cowboys facing Baylor next weekend. Here is the slate of key conference championships to be aware of the week ahead:
Conference title games:
AAC: Cincinnati vs. Houston
ACC: Pitt vs. Wake Forest
Big Ten: Michigan vs. Iowa
Big 12: Oklahoma State vs. Baylor
C-USA: WKU vs. UTSA
MAC: NIU vs. Kent State
MWC: Utah State vs. SDSU
Pac-12: Utah vs. Oregon
SEC: Georgia vs. Alabama
SBC: App State vs. ULL— Yahoo Sports College Football (@YahooSportsCFB) November 28, 2021
The biggest matchups in terms of the College Football Playoff come from the SEC, B1G, and AAC, according to the rankings coming into Week 13. Based on those rankings, the winner of the SEC between Georgia and Alabama will get into the final field. Many analysts also believe Georgia is in either way.
For Cincinnati, the Bearcats need a win vs. Houston to remain undefeated and in the conversation to make the CFP field. A win for Michigan vs. Iowa would appear to put the Wolverine safely in the field of four.
Buckle up! It is sure to be a wild week of conference championships to close out the season.
