Here’s how Trey Sermon’s impressive season at OSU stacks up against Ezekiel Elliott’s best according to PFF

Trey Sermon’s two games so far this postseason have boosted him considerably, raising the Ohio State running back’s grade for the year to nearly the level of Ezekiel Elliott.
And that isn’t a bad thing, now is it?
In fact, his 2020 season is approaching the grading level achieved by Elliott when he was a star running back at Ohio State. After his time with the Buckeyes, Elliott became a first-round pick (No. 4 overall in the 2016 NFL Draft) and a three-time Pro Bowl selection.
So Pro Football Focus’ grades are significant when they bring Sermon into this conversation:

Sermon has put up over half of his 868 rushing yards this year over the last two games. He has simply balled out during that stretch in the Big Ten Championship Game against Northwestern (29 carries, 331 rushing yards, and two touchdowns) and then, a week ago, in the semifinals of the College Football Playoff against Clemson (31 carries, 193 rushing yards and a touchdown).
Sermon also has at least a touchdown in each of his last three games played. He has four rushing touchdowns this season.
That would be en fuego.
In all likelihood, Sermon will need to play big on Monday night if No. 3 Ohio State is going to beat No. 1 Alabama. For what it’s worth, Alabama head coach Nick Saban gave Sermon high praise last week.
