The matchup for the College Football Playoff National Championship Game is set!

Before the Sugar Bowl kicked off in primetime, Alabama and Notre Dame squared off in the Rose Bowl. While the Fighting Irish scored a late touchdown to make it a bit more respectable, Nick Saban’s Crimson Tide looked strong with wide receiver Devonta Smith putting up an incredible performance.

Then in the Sugar Bowl, Ryan Day’s Ohio State Buckeyes put up a performance for the ages. Quarterback Justin Fields outdueled Clemson’s Trevor Lawrence, throwing for six touchdowns and putting up a record-breaking performance.

Once Ohio State had the game under control, Circa Sports put out an opening line for the National Championship Game matchup of Alabama-Ohio State. That line has the Crimson Tide opening as a touchdown favorite at -7.

It also set the over/under point total at 77, pointing toward a potential shootout between the two teams:

Alabama has been a consensus No. 1 team for much of the season behind a host of offensive playmakers. It’s always possible the health of Fields – who was dinged up and battling pain most of the game – plays a deciding role in the final betting line, but hopefully he is close to full strength for the matchup.
