Wisconsin was able to finish their season above .500 after their 42-28 win over Wake Forest in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl.
The Badgers were down by two touchdowns early in the game but had a big comeback thanks to Demon Deacons quarterback Sam Hartman. He threw four interceptions on four consecutive drives which led to the Badgers just taking over the game in the fourth quarter.
Wisconsin’s rushing attack was on full display in this game as it accounted for five of their six touchdowns. Quarterback Graham Mertz had two of them (plus a passing touchdown). Garrett Groshek, Jalen Berger, and John Chenal also each had one.
With the Badgers feeling good about themselves, here’s what head coach Paul Chryst said after the game:
Paul Chryst on Graham Mertz's fourth-down sneak early in the game, giving the group some confidence: It felt like if you were going to win the game, you've got to make some plays.

Paul Chryst on Graham Mertz: "He did go through a lot … I think he's learned it and will continue to learn. The more you can stay consistent and stay steady, it'll be a great offseason for him to learn and grow from the experiences that he's had."

Paul Chryst: We had a stretch there defensively that absolutely changed the game … A lot of guys contributed and you're thankful for that.

Paul Chryst on Devin Chandler: I'm glad we (recruiting him). Certainly think he has some mobility. He's young. He's capable of some big plays.

Paul Chryst said Jon Dietzen went as long as he could before yielding to Logan Brown. "One thing this year was a lot of guys got opportunity to play. Hopefully we can all learn from those opportunities."
