Report: Rutgers fires Kyle Flood, athletics director Julie Hermann

Rutgers reportedly fired head coach Kyle Flood and athletics director Julie Hermann on Sunday.

According to NJ.com, Seton Hall Dean of Law Patrick Hobbs is expected to be appointed Rutgers AD.
Flood was fired after four seasons leading the Scarlet Knights. Rutgers finished the season with just four wins, which marked the first time in five years in which it missed out on the postseason.
Flood’s off-the-field struggles matched his on-the-field struggles in 2015. He received a three-game suspension for having impermissible contact with a university professor in regards to a former player’s grade. That also resulted in a $50,000 fine.
The program suspended players and kicked players off the team this year for armed robbery, failed drug tests and assault arrests. That didn’t include the early-season suspension to a handful of Rutgers players for breaking curfew and using fake IDs.
According to the report, Hermann was fired after meeting with university president Robert Barchi, who hired her in 2013.
But Hermann survived a slew of NCAA investigations, player arrests and coach suspensions during her time in New Jersey. The school’s first female athletics director in program history signed a contract in 2013 that was supposed to keep her in Rutgers through 2018. The report stated that her contract will paid her $450,000 per year.
There’s no word yet on whether or not there was a buyout in place for either Flood or Hermann.
