High-profile NFL QB tests positive for COVID-19, ruled out for Sunday game

After three great weeks in the NFL, the COVID-19 virus is starting to affect games and players in the league. And some big news broke on Saturday morning, as New England Patriots quarterback Cam Newton has been ruled out for Sunday’s game.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter and Field Yates reported the news that Newton tested positive for the virus and will not play on Sunday. The Patriots will play the Kansas City Chiefs this weekend.

Newton is in his first season with the Patriots, replacing Tom Brady in New England. Through the first three games, he’s thrown for 714 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions. He’s also rushed for 149 yards and four tocuhdowns.
The Patriots are off to a 2-1 start.
Earlier this week, an outbreak among Tennessee Titans players and staff forced the NFL to reschedule this weekend’s game between the Titans and Pittsburgh Steelers. It is the first NFL game of the season to be postponed.
