High school AD in Utah halts football game until all fans put on masks

Even though college conferences like the Pac-12 and Mountain West have called off the college football season in 2020, the state of Utah is allowing high school teams to take the field this fall. But it’s not easing up on health and safety guidelines during the pandemic.
On Thursday night, American Fork High School and Timpview High School were in the middle of the contest when American Fork athletic director Jeremy Lewis paused the game because fans were not wearing masks and not sitting in assigned seats. He threatened that the game would not resume until masks were put back on and people were in the proper seats.

The game did eventually resume and American Fork went on to defeat Timpview 31-21.
It may not be pleasant to wear a mask outdoors or have to sit so far apart from other spectators, but if you want football, it’s the requirement in Utah. And it doesn’t appear that anyone is taking that lightly.
