The best play of the football season came at the high school level. To use a common phrase the kids are saying these days, “it’s not close.”

A blitzing safety in a high school football game timed a pitch from the quarterback to running back perfectly, catching the ball mid-toss and racing the other direction for a touchdown. It was one of the most beautiful defensive plays you’ll ever see.

Hundreds of thousands of people have viewed the play:

The biggest question about this play? Will he be credited with an interception or fumble recovery? We’re guessing he probably doesn’t care about that after receiving the kind of attention he’s gotten over the last few days.

We may not see a better play at any level of football anytime soon.
