If you’re in need of a feel-good holiday story this season, look no further than Iowa City.
On December 23, two days until Christmas, hundreds of Hawkeyes fans and Iowans stood between the giant concrete structures of Kinnick Stadium and the University of Iowa Stead Family Children’s Hospital to spread a little holiday spirit. They also put a special twist on the Iowa Wave.
The best tradition in college football took on a holiday feel, as those hundreds of people waved to the children inside the hospital on Monday night. Several videos captured the awesome moment.

If you need to rush to the nearest box of tissues, we get it. What an incredible gesture from the people of Iowa.
The Iowa Wave gained began in 2017 and has been regarded as the best new tradition in college football. At the end of the first quarter of every Hawkeyes home game, players, coaches and fans inside Kinnick Stadium look to the hospital that overlooks the field and wave to the children.
It’s really cool to see the tradition extend past football, especially during the holiday season.
