Hurricane Dorian influenced a few locations of college football games in Week 1 and will continue to impact the sport this Saturday. Still days away from Week 2, Hurricane Dorian has already caused two games to be cancelled.
The Presbyterian-Stetson matchup along with Southeastern Louisiana’s contest at Bethune-Cookman will not happen according to 247Sports. Both games were scheduled to be played in Florida.
“With the entire east coast of Florida in the potential impact zone for this storm, we felt it only prudent for the safety of our student-athletes, staff and fans, as well as the travel party from Presbyterian, to cancel the game,” Stetson athletic director Jeff Altier said Sunday.
Hurricane Dorian is expected to move up the east coast of Florida and then hit Georgia, South Carolina and North Carolina. It would not at all be a surprise to see other college football games in those states, especially along the coast, be cancelled this weekend.
There aren’t any Big Ten teams that could be directly affected, but the storm could have ramifications on the College Football Playoffs if a contest such as Texas A&M vs. Clemson needs to be cancelled.
